It seems isolation is merely a theoretical concept, as VMware Workstation and Fusion have politely allowed virtual machine admins to hop straight onto the host system. Anyone hosting these virtual environments gets the privilege of facing critical code execution escaping their hypervisors. Defending our beleaguered hosts from this containment failure means applying VMware's latest updates without delay, unless of course one actually prefers guest machines casually taking over host hardware.
