The Full Story
University of Washington IT has opted for the 'turn it off and wait' strategy, disabling Canvas and dragging integrated systems like Parchment and Panopto down into the abyss with it. While officials claim there is no evidence of credential theft yet, the complete lack of vendor verification suggests they are operating on hope rather than certainty. To keep our own sanity, we should probably verify vendor security claims before they inevitably trigger a cascading failure of every teaching tool we own. This specific brand of silence from service providers is practically a tradition in the IT world.
