The minds at the IMF have suddenly noticed that tying global financial markets to third-party supplier software creates an enormous attack surface for AI threats. Financial institutions and interconnected services are directly burdened by this predictable trap, having digitised everything without a second thought. Shielding our economic systems from disaster supposedly demands securing interconnected services and key suppliers, though why we bother issuing warnings to people who ignore basic IT hygiene is beyond me.
