The Full Story

Severity: High Mood: Frustrating

In a masterclass of negligence, hackers spent ten months wandering around South Korea's National Diplomatic Academy educational server completely unnoticed. Around 6,000 foreign ministry staff and diplomats had their personal information compromised because the server was excluded from routine security audits. Defending diplomatic networks against such intrusions means stop skipping servers during security audits. Why do we even bother setting up audit schedules if targets are ignored? Just another day of basic oversight failing miserably.
