While the college tried to pretend it was just a service outage, it turns out Instructure was actually busy mopping up a breach involving messages and emails. This affects the entire academic community who trusted their internal communications to a platform that clearly prefers the 'open book' approach to security. Protecting ourselves requires the usual ritual of changing passwords and hoping the next provider isn't equally sieve-like.
