French authorities have nabbed a teenager who apparently managed to breach France Titres and walk off with enough personal data to fill a small country’s filing cabinets. Between 12 and 18 million records including ID numbers and dates of birth were put up for sale on forums, presumably for more pocket money than a paper round provides. This massive breach affected millions of official document holders who now have their details floating around the darker corners of the web. Guarding against such youthful exuberance involves better securing government databases and perhaps more engaging extracurricular activities for the youth.
