The Full Story
Just another Tuesday in Europe as France's national statistics agency, Insee, politely allowed hackers to plunder their directory systems. This little administrative mishap compromised the identities and work contact details of nearly 12,800 current and former staff members. They are desperately spinning this as a win because the actual census data and staff passwords remained untouched, which is lovely for them. To protect our own directories from being similarly harvested, we might try securing directory access and not treating staff contact databases like public phone books.
